CAReer is not about doing exercises, but about cooperation and taking on responsibility
You will acquire all the know-how you need for your future career at Daimler working on various projects and training modules in the corporation's various divisions and departments.
After successfully completing the CAReer program you will be best placed to master the demanding challenges in our corporation - on both a professional and personal level.
Program Itenary: Orientation, training and projects (15 to 18 months)
The CAReer Program lasts around 15 to 18 months from the day of entry until you start working fix in your entry function. The length of each module may vary depending on topic and project, so that the overall duration of the program may be different for different people. Project assignments in the technical filed tend to last longer than in the commercial fields.
- “On-the-job” project assignments (3 to 6 months each)
CAReer participants can develop their specialist skills >>on the job<< in 3 coordinated projects working with colleagues from different countries and cultures. They gain broad practical experience in various functions and divisions with one of the world’s leading international automotive manufacturers –that offers both fascinating products and innovative financial services for the automobile. One of the project assignments will be international.
Project 1: Entry Function
We will agree details with you at the start of the program. The area you applied to and began your career in is known as your >> entry function <<. This is where you will generally complete your first project assignment. The other assignments and training courses will be organized so that you will be best prepared for your future assignment.
Project 2: Cross-unit assignment outside of your target area
Daimler offers various working areas. By choosing a entry function each trainee will be directly or indirectly assigned to one particular business unit. To ideally prepare you for your future tasks you will get to know Daimler from various perspectives. This is why your first assignment is followed by a >>cross-unit<< project that will allow you to gain experience outside of your entry function.
Project 3: International Assignment
The international project assignment allows you to get to know Daimler from a global perspective. In this project you learn about intercultural competences. These skills will be a valuable knowledge to use in our globally active company.
- “Off-the-job” Trainings
Along with practical project assignments, off-the-job seminars and workshops will offer you a good opportunity to acquire the specialist and methodological skills you need. These also provide the best opportunity to network with colleagues and managers from various countries and functional fields. Your training is supplemented by an assignment in a production plant and/or a sales subsidiary.
Training 1: “Getting started”
Several times a year new CAReer trainees start at Daimler with the two-week training module “Getting Started”. And it’s all about getting to know each other! You will make contact with your fellow CAReer colleagues and at the same time gain important insights into our company, our values and culture, strategy and – most important – our employees. Additionally you will learn more about methodological skills in economy as well as in project management.
Training 2: “Crossing Borders”
Approximately 7 to 9 months after the kick-off you will attend a one-week training at one of our international locations focusing on working in an international context. You will get on-the-spot insights into the work of our colleagues worldwide being able to not only gain theoretical knowledge but also getting in contact with local managers. You will enhance your intercultural competences and network as a chance for your personal development.
Training 3: “Keep Moving”
After the CAReer program daily business is not the only thing waiting for you. The third training module “Keep Moving” will take place around 6 months after you finished your program. During the one-week workshop you will intensively deal with your personal goals, professional expectations, leadership topics and life-balance issues.
